Adiabatic Demagnetisation Refrigeration

Complete ADR systems

Our standard ADR system uses liquid helium-4 and has a single demagnetisation cooling stage capable of base temperatures of below 100mK. It also offers large sample space and a continuous temperature sweep from base temperature to 100K for various transport properties and other material characterisation measurements.

We also offer custom-designed cryogenic systems that can include:
  • multiple demagnetisation cooling stage, with base temperatures of below 20mK
  • helium-4 or cryogen free cryostat
  • coaxial, optical fibre, and other special wiring configurations




Magnetic Refrigeration Pills



Product details

Our standard magnetic refrigeration pills will fit all our ADR systems, and have a base temperature of below 100mK (and often below 50mK depending on the application) when used from a starting temperature of 1.5K.

We are also happy to design and manufacture replacement magnetic refrigeration pills to fit existing ADRs, and offer consulting service on improving the performance of your existing systems.



Pressure Cells

We offer two pressure cells. One that fits in a most SQUID magnetometers and a larger one that has the capability of admitting wires into the sample space allowing a great range of measurements to be made.


Miniature Clamp Cell


Product details


This small cell can be used in almost any SQUID magnetometer. It allows measurements to be carried out at up to 10Kbar (1.0GPa) with a sensitivity of 10-5emu.




Transport Clamp Cell



Product details


The larger Transport Clamp Cell has a feedthrough allowing the access of at least 10 pairs of wires into the pressurised volume. The pressurised volume is large enough for multiple samples as well as a manometer to be loaded at once. This cell can achieve low temperature pressures of up to 25Kbar (2.5GPa) or room temperature pressure of 30Kbar (3.0GPa).
