Email: cheng.liu@camcool.co.ukI did my first degree at the University of Cambridge and stayed on to do my PhD studies with Dr. Pugh and Prof. Lonzarich at the Shoenberg Laboratory for Quantum Matter. My research focused mainly on the design and construction of adiabatic demagnetisation refrigerators (ADRs). I have been responsible for the two ADRs currently used in the lab, one of which is capable of achieving temperatures below 20mK.
After completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds I came to Cambridge to take up the offer of a PhD studentship in the Shoenberg Laboratory for Quantum Matter with Prof. Saxena. I am currently running through the final processes of thesis submission. During my time working in the QM group I have learned much about the design, manufacture and operation of a number of pressure cells.
